Dear Hugo,
In searching for an old e-mail, I came across yours which I realise I never
replied to. I am indeed a descendant of Hubert Saumarez Smith who was my
grandfather. He married Muriel Hanbury and they had two children:
Margaret and my father William. Margaret married Ronald Bottrall, a minor
poet. My father married Alice Elizabeth Harness Raven and they had four
children: John Hugh; Richard William; Helen Margaret; and myself,
Charles Robert (b.1954). My father used to talk of his cousins who were
called Heriz Smith...
