Peas

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Yesterday I planted a double row of peas in the bed where last year I had cucumbers. This was one of the beds that got a big gouge cut through it by the flooding on Monday. There was plenty of soil in the path between this bed and then next to fill in the gap though, so it was easy to fix.

Skunk cabbage

Nice shapes as the skunk cabbage comes up through the mud.

Another storm

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

The crocuses are just showing again as the last snow melts away - and now there’s another storm coming. No picture for now. I actually had to water the seedlings in the cold frames yesterday - the soil was starting to dry a little. Nice and snug in there.

Camera coming

I was lucky enough to order a new camera today - I look forward to posting photos here soon. I’ll write more about it when it arrives…

iGTD

Monday, April 9th, 2007

On the last MacBreak Weekly Leo reviewed a new Get Things Done app called iGTD. I’ve never used one of these programs before, but thought I’d try it. I’m really liking it - and as I’ve been trying to learn more about Quicksilver at the same time, the way the two work together is really neat. Just a few keystrokes and a new task can be entered - no switching out of the program you’re in. Really nice and quick.

Snow

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

Well - we got between 12″ and 14″ of snow. It’s melting away pretty fast, but still quite deep out there. I cleared the snow off the cold frames yesterday and today went up to check them out. As I opened the lights, the warm smell of recently worked soil came out - what a nice contrast to the snow that was piled right up to the top of the frames. The radishes and peas have germinated already.

Snowdrops

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

Our snowdrops (Galanthus) came back yesterday. We planted them in the fall of 2004. In the spring of 2005 they didn’t bloom, but last year they did. I wondered if they’d stick around - and they’re back. Aren’t they great?

Spring is still coming -it really is.
